Debunking the VA Privatization Myth
04/05/2018 04:19 PM EDT
There is no effort underway to privatize VA and to suggest otherwise is completely false and a red herring designed to distract and avoid honest debate on the real issues surrounding Veterans’ health care.
I don’t believe it!
even as we came together- I could see her preparations to depart
and I against all reason, closed my mind, unwilling to admit defeat
now I await her decision, will I fail the test ? or become just another
notch in her broomstick?
they say in the war i went to hell and back, i say i never left. hell is where the home is - extensive research on this subject bears me out.
I would like you to share yourself with me so that I may be warmed and nourished by your rich tapestry. And I would not like you to worry that some of your threading is inappropriate or uncomfortable to share with me, because I am only here to accept you exactly as you are and to take interest in the way you step through life, as I hope you do with me.
So lay on me your doubts, your troubles, your faux pas, your suffering, your sadness. Lay on me your hopes, your dreams, your excitements, your curiosities, your guilty pleasures, and in return receive mine. I want to see how you see yourself, and reveal myself to you. And while you tell me all of this and more, I would like to rest my eyes upon your eyes, and take my hand upon your back, and laugh up to the ceiling as you divulge, because it is in moments of pure exposure that I bask in the ever-so-specific you, and I become the ever-so-specific me, and even though you’ve never stepped into the current of the Ganges and I’ve never ridden a camel. I am more sure than ever we share a common thread.
She finally replied, not the answer I desired, but we are “ friends ” as best as I can desire, …. for now….

chimps at the sanaga-yong chimpanzee rescue center in cameroon, orphaned from the illegal bush meat trade and habitat loss, stand in mourning as dorthy, a recently deceased member of their adopted and extended family, is wheeled past them.
this photo was taken by monica szczupider, a worker at the centre, who describes how dorothy was rescued from an amusement park in cameroon where, tethered to a chain for twenty five years, she was taunted, teased, had cigarettes thrown at her, and made to smoke and drink beer for the entertainment of others.
“despite her tortuous past, dorothy was in fact one of the kindest chimps - or living creatures, in general - i have ever met,” says szcuzupider.
describing the picture, she noted that “chimps are not silent. they are gregarious, loud, vocal creatures, usually with relatively short attention spans. but they could not take their eyes off dorothy, and their silence, more than anything, spoke volumes.”
according to professor emeritus at the university of colorado, mark bekoff, “that animals and humans share many traits including emotions [such as grief] is merely an extension of charles darwin’s accepted ideas about evolutionary continuity, that the differences between species are differences in degree rather than differences in kind.”
